Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir - Five Drawings 10“ Multiple 27597
A limited edition of 20 copies, containing drawings, text and a transparent 10” vinyl record, released by the artists on 10 February 2017. Layout in collaboration with author, Arnar Freyr Gudmundsson.

The substance of the composition stems from the five ink and pencil drawings, now silkscreen printed and displayed for for the first time on the pages accompanying the vinyl. The drawings have thus far only been audible, never visible. They were used as score and vocalized for a binaural microphone by five vocalists.

For Five Drawings, five jazz performance students from the Academy of Arts in Klaipėda University each performed a vocal narrative for one corresponding drawing. During a workshop in November 2015 the girls were trained to see one drawing each as a score and “read” it. They sang for a sculpture that functioned as a binaural microphone during the recordings. In the recording sessions the space around the sculpture was defined according to the drawing, and the singers moved around the space, vocalizing their lines in relation to the sculpture, and by so doing creating the frame for the composition.
