Haswell & Hecker - UPIC Warp Tracks CD 10056
In 2003 Russell Haswell and Florian Hecker began a research project together centering around the use of Iannis Xenakis' UPIC "graphic input" computer music composing system, and a residency at CCMIX Paris, where the UPIC is located. This EP on Warp - UPIC Warp tracks - is the second soujourn into their experimentations with this unique system, the first was released on Warner Classics in 2007, entitled Blackest Ever Black: Electro acoustic Upic Recordings. Further results of their experimentations are currently being presented to the public as live multi channel electroacoustic diffusion concerts. These events use surround sound and laser lighting to create an immersive multi-sensory environment. The cover for UPIC Warp tracks includes photographs taken during previous 'UPIC Diffusion Sessions', which are decorated with specially commissioned sleeve notes by British Artist Dave Falconer
