Claus Böhmler - Der Maler P. par Claude Boehmler Art-Multiple/CDR 20275
Art edition published 1999 by the Barbara Wien Gallery in Berlin. 16 page A5 booklet, CD, and a pack of pencils inside a clear box. Numbered and signed by the artist. Claus Böhmler examines the media. He was one of the first artists in Germany with an interest in video, xeros, and modern techniques of image reproduction. By simple questions about the mechanisms of technology and by playing with the possibilities of the medium, he draws attention to rules and functions that usually escape our perception. In the book "Der Maler P. par Claude Boehmler" he examines sterotype formulars in art recipation with the example of the catalog text to paintings by Pablo Picasso. He prints the paintings but as 'colour-out' images with a box of pencils included in the edition. On the CD Böhmler interprets the catalogue texts, reads the descriptions but breaks the idyll with short bursts from radio broadcast.
